{"id":1658,"date":"2011-04-22T00:12:46","date_gmt":"2011-04-22T00:12:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.brietv.com\/blog\/?p=1658"},"modified":"2011-04-22T00:12:46","modified_gmt":"2011-04-22T00:12:46","slug":"fantasy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brietv.com\/blog\/2011\/04\/22\/fantasy\/","title":{"rendered":"fantasy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">um hi<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brietv.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/brie1511.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1659\" title=\"brie1511\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brietv.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/brie1511.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"187\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Fantasy in literature is so stultifying.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">This brings to mind Ayn Rand.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">I don&#8217;t really know what planet she was writing about.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">If she had lived to see the future, she would have been astounded by all the big rip-offs selling us out to special interests!<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">For such a brilliant woman, she seemed rather naive.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Unaware that if you played by the rules, and the possibility existed that you might actually win the game, then more likely than not, your enemies would change the rules, making you a loser.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">So &#8220;Atlas Shrugged&#8221; &#8211;big deal.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">If you decide to quit, there are many others desiring to replace you, commensurate with you success. <\/span>Your successor may not be as talented as you were, but the  system doesn\u2019t really care! <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Don&#8217;t let the door hit you on the way out bub.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">I read an account of Ayn Rand having visited an all boy&#8217;s prep school, wearing a short skirt,<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brietv.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/brie834.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1660\" title=\"brie834\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brietv.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/brie834.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"247\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> thereby causing a sensation among those present. She was no doubt charismatic. As a person she sounds way more interesting than her writing ever could be.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">At a young age I read the monumental &#8220;Lord of the Rings&#8221; trilogy, and really can&#8217;t waste any more time on fantasy.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">When unemployed during the eighties, I read Thomas Pynchon\u2019s epic tome &#8220;Gravity&#8217;s Rainbow,&#8221; which verges on fantasy. We really don&#8217;t need any more writers trying to emulate Pynchon!<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Same with the Harry Potter books. The author herself is way more interesting than a bunch of rubbish, as the British would say, about witches and such. Truly amazing how she came from nowhere to become such a success.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Modern society has a tendency to chew up people like sticks of gum before spitting them out, producing an abundance of\u00a0 washed-up-has-beens. <\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>um hi Fantasy in literature is so stultifying.
